The Re-AWAKENING 2026 event features a vibrant blend of conscious music, spoken word, guest speakers, film screening, connecting with organizations, strategic planning, cultural vendors and support for local Black-owned businesses. Curator: Bigga Dre( Amun Sen Hotep Re) Programming Focus: Community empowerment, Black culture, resilience, edutainment, & social upliftment. The overarching theme of the Reawakening event centers on cultural renewal, spiritual resurrection, and community self-reliance within the African diaspora. Rather than just a concert or a festival, the event is designed as a form of "edutainment"—using arts and history to educate, heal, and politically mobilize the neighborhood. Core Pillars of the Event's Theme Sankofa Principle: Rooted in the African concept of "looking to the past to move forward," the programming connects ancient African history and civilization with modern-day struggles and achievements. Collective Healing: The event addresses systemic struggles and intergenerational trauma by offering a safe space focused on mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. Economic Solidarity: A central theme is the pooling of local resources, emphasizing the buying and circulating of dollars within Black-owned businesses. The True Purpose of the Gathering A Cultural Hub: Providing a stage for independent, conscious musical artists, poets, and visual storytellers whose work is often omitted from mainstream media. Encouraged by a friend to seek solace at a gay sex resort, he meets Jordan Firstman (as himself) a hopelessly self-obsessed social media star who seems to have no personal boundaries. Silva distances himself from the YouTube star yet the pair find themselves thrown together after producers at HBO encourage Silva to work with the impossible Firstman.ROTTING IN THE SUN takes a number of shocking turns from there, making the darkest of comedies out of the pair's situation, finding humor in this most modern of contemporary landscapes. New to the group is Tyler (Jason Mitchell, Easy-E from STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON), a genial up-start restaurateur, who as the only African American in the group, finds himself slowly alienated by the high-energy competitive spirit of the partying “Bros.”Although it doesn't take any fantastical turns, TYREL drew comparisons to Jordan Peele's modern horror classic GET OUT with the story's visceral unease cutting deep, despite the rural beauty and seeming innocuousness of its setting. Michael Cera has a memorable turn as the late-arriving rich friend who turns the party up a notch and THE WIRE's Reg E. The humans behind Swapadelphia, Fat Babe Philly and Philly SWAP are teaming up to bring you a fabulous day of swapping, shopping and community! Anyone is welcome! This is a size and gender expansive event, our clothing will be sorted by item - pants, shirts, etc. - and then roughly by size, not by style or ‘gender’. Bring clean clothing items that no longer serve you but still have life left in them! Our volunteers will sort them into categories and then you can hunt for fun, new to you items to take home.
