The Philly streets thrum and echo with improvisation and DIY spirit. This simple aesthetic informs his music and artistic approach. He uses modular and video synthesis to execute his take on this vision. His live performances are well known on the local experimental electronic music scene; each having a new patch and an original improvisation. We are proud to bring you a performance from the Homayoun Ensemble. Homayoun Ensemble: Mehran Mehrnia – leader & tar Sepideh Jandaghi – vocals Ardavan Abedipour – oud, Omid Samari – tonbak, Arash Siahchashm – kamancheh & Homayoun Mehrnia – tarbass. Mehran Mehrnia is an Iranian classical musician, tar and setar player and composer. He is the founder and has been the lead performer of Iranian classic music ensemble “Homayoun” since 1994. He is a professor of Iranian music at Art University and Tehran Conservatory of Music. He is a pupil of the famed Iranian music master Mohammadreza Lotfi. Mehrnia has led several Homayoun ensemble performances in Iran and in other countries including Estonia,Lithuania, Germany, Poland,France,Turkey and Vietnam. Mehrnia’s albums include “Tale’e Mehr”, “Naghme-ye Hamrazan”, “Parvaz-e Khakestar” and “Hokmrani-e Baad”. Sepideh Jandaghi is a contemporary singer of Iranian traditional music. She was tutored by Parisa on vocals for 15 years, and further boosted that education with an academic degree in singing. In addition to being a singer, she is also a setar instrumentalist. Jandaghi has been professionally active since 2015. Her first singles were composed by Arshak Rafiei and released in online media. Since 2018, she has been collaborating with Mehran Mehrnia, a composer and the head of Homayoun band. We are proud to present a performance by Anahita Ramezani. Anahita Ramezani: Anahita Ramezani, born in Tehran, Iran, is a Persian Târ player. She embarked on her musical journey in 2001, taking advantage of the experiences of prominent musicians like Dariush Talaei along the way. Ramezani pursued târ playing to an advanced level. After completing a bachelor’s degree in Iranian musicianship with great distinction, she enrolled in a master’s program in Iranian musical instrument playing (specializing in târ) at the University of Tehran and graduated magna cum laude. She has given numerous recitals as a soloist. In addition to her compositions and arrangements, she has performed the works of distinguished Iranian musicians in her concerts. Apart from the solo performances, she has participated in Iran’s National Orchestra and renowned music ensembles and has attended international music festivals. She has also appeared in many competitive festivals, notably the Youth Music Festival in Iran, where she ranked first in târ playing at the country level. She engages in other activities, too, such as teaching târ and setâr playing and Iranian music studies in Iran’s top music institutes.
