Live virtual performance of the interactive play Ask A Sex Abuse Survivor

From Children's Advocacy Centers of Pennsylvania: "We hosted a virtual performance of Ask A Survivor and it felt just as dynamic and interactive as an in-person event. This show is as honest as it gets about the hard reality of child sexual abuse. As Michael tastefully recreates through dramatic monologue the most painful scenes of his childhood, we become "witnesses" to the abuse that Michael suffered alone and in silence for so many years. Yet this carefully guided journey does not abandon its audience in those dark places of memory. Michael strikes a "just-right" balance between raw emotional intensity and self-reflective commentary. Each memory-scene is followed by an opportunity for audience engagement—and Michael creates a genuinely safe space for participants to ask questions about this very sensitive topic. The brilliance of Michael's approach comes down to this Q&A—without realizing it, we have been empowered to have a conversation that is still so taboo in our society. We leave the performance feeling compelled to pay greater attention to victims and survivors, to feel their pain more deeply, and to act more decisively to protect children from abuse."

Danie Ocean blind, queer, non-binary singer/ songwriter and arts advocate is changing the face of what the call of musicianship means in America. Whether teamed up with her band the Danie Ocean Band of working on an independent album this singer songwriter is called for great heights.

Graduate of University of Pennsylvania Danie Ocean born Danielle Jackson went to school for Psychology and spent a year in Americorps' City Year. inspired to do transformational work in Philadelphia schools, Ocean blended music therapy in her clinical work with children and families.

In 2016 Ocean looked to take her own musical career to the next level and in 2018 she was picked up by her current label Winding Way records.

Danie Ocean's latest album "Love Won't Let ME Fail" was produced by Grammy Award Winning Producer Vidal Davis. Danie Ocean continues to promote the her album.

Phillip Greenlief/Trevor Dunn/Michael Vatcher Trio

Phillip Greenlief:

Since his emergence on the west coast in the late 1970s, saxophonist/composer Phillip Greenlief has achieved international acclaim for his recordings and performances with musicians and composers in the post-jazz continuum as well as new music innovators and virtuosic improvisers. He has performed with Wadada Leo Smith, Meredith Monk, Rashaun Mitchell and They Might Be Giants. Albums include LANTSKAP LOGIC with Fred Frith and Evelyn Davis, THAT OVERT DESIRE OF OBJECT with Joelle Leandre, ALL AT ONCE with FPR (Frank Gratkowski and Jon Raskin), and OH THAT MONSTER with LA punk pioneers Thelonious Monster. Recent residencies have included the Banff Center for Art and Creativity, Neue Muzik Koln, and Headlands Center for the Arts. His critical writing has been published in Artforum, Open Space (SFMOMA), and Signal to Noise.

Trevor Dunn:

Trevor Dunn was born in 1968 behind the Redwood Curtain in The Emerald Triangle traversing a fine line between hippies and rednecks. His first instrument was the clarinet and he began to focus on the electric bass at age 13. Four years later he co-founded the avant-rock band Mr. Bungle. In 1990 he received a BA in music from Humboldt State where he performed Koussevitsky’s Concerto for Double Bass with the HSO. In 2001 he was commissioned by the Elaine Kaufman Cultural Center to write a solo bass piece for Jon Deak. Mr. Deak performed “Depaysemant” for prepared contrabass later that year at Merkin Hall, Lincoln Center. Dunn has lived in Brooklyn, NY since 2000 and can be heard on over 150 recordings including a disc of original film music entitled Four Films (Tzadik) and his original rock band MadLove (Ipecac). He recently finished his String Quartet Nr 1 and Six Nocturnes for Piano which will be released on Tzadik next year. Currently a “singer/songwriter” recording is underway as well as new music for his trio-convulsant (with strings), a duo project with Sannety called SpermChurch and more film music. All of this will happen between tours with Dan Weiss’ Starebaby, Endangered Blood & John Zorn’s bagatelles marathons.

Michael Vatcher:

California native Michael Vatcher, now residing in Amsterdam, quickly progressed from hitting household furniture to taking vibraphone and snare drum lessons. In California, he played with reedist Michael Moore, John Handy, and Terry Gibbs.

After spending two years in New York City, Vatcher moved to Holland in 1979. , there he worked with such groups as the Tristan Honsinger Sextet, the Martin Altena Ensemble, John Zorn, The Ex, Roof (with Phil Minton, Tom Cora, and Luc Ex), and Van Dyke Parks, Available Jelly, “1,000” , the Corkestra, Magpie music and dance improvisation group. Bik Bent Braam, trio Braam/ deJoode/ Vatcher, and various projects with Michael Moore. Vatcher worked as a dance accompanist with the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam, and frequently works with improvising dancers.

World-renowned Philly-local klezmer trombonist Dan Blacksberg presents the Return of the Big Yiddish Dance Party! The Big Yiddish Dance Party is Philadelphia's biggest klezmer dance party where people can Freylekh and bop to some of the best klezmer music anywhere! Yiddish dancing to klezmer music is the one of the sweetest ways to gather together and celebrate our shared connections. Holding hands, moving around in the circle, each person adding their individual spice into the group, it all adds up to a collective expression of human joy. 

The music will be provided by an all-star band led by Dan Blacksberg. Featuring Michael Winograd (The Honorable Mentshn, Vulfpeck) on clarinet, Christina Crowder (Di Naye Kapelye, Klezmer Institute) on accordion, Zoe Guigeno (Honorable Mentshn, Laura Cortese) on bass, and Dave Licht (Klezmatics) on drums, this band will play klezmer as delicious as a fresh latke right out the fryer. Veterans of the concert stage and simchas alike, these musicians know how to get your tukhes (butt) out on the dance floor!

The Adidas Ol Skool Party and Fundraiser for the United Block Captains Association Summer Fun Program 

No one will be admitted unless they're wearing some sort of Adidas gear such as a shirt, hat, jacket, etc.

This event is a fundraiser for the 2022 United Block Captains Association Hospital (UBCAH) Summer Fun Program. The Summer Fun Program was founded in 1974 to provide fun and educational activities for children during the summer. Children ages 7 to 14 are served by UBCAH year round, with this special summer program providing seven weeks (at five days per week) of fun at very little cost to participants.

Every dollar raised helps to offset the costs of bus rental, water park and amusement park admission, movie tickets, arts and culture instructors and experiences, and more.

Fashion show! Come learn the new Adidas dance! Prizes awarded! Light refreshments provided but you're welcome to also bring your own food and soft drinks.  No alcohol permitted.

No one will be admitted without some sort of Adidas gear on.
