  • 5:30 PMCommunity Vegan Potluck
  • 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Please join us for a vegan potluck just like the fun ones we have hosted here in the past!

    Children are welcome!

We can accommodate dozens of folks and really want to encourage you to bring guests as well as meet new people.

Please bring a small vegan dish of your choosing, a card or sheet of paper listing your ingredients, and a serving utensil. Vegan food uses no animal ingredients so please make sure your dish does not contain dairy milk/cream/yogurt/cheese (vegan versions of all of these can be found at stores or made at home!), whey, meat, eggs, honey, etc. If anyone brings non vegan food to the potluck, we will ask them to put it away. We want to serve food vegan only.

    No alcohol

Just a couple of notes: The Rotunda doesn't have a kitchen, so please bring your dishes ready to serve. We do have a small microwave and a refrigerator. We can't guarantee enough outlets for crock pots and the like. In addition, The Rotunda will provide disposable or compostable plates, forks, knives, spoons, cups, and napkins but you're more than welcome to bring your own reusables!

    Admission is FREE.

  • 8:00 PM - 11:30 PM Event Horizon Series Presents December 7th -  Jeremy dePrisco, 4 Airports, Urban Shaman AttackJeremy dePrisco (aka Shivasongster) is a Pennsylvania musician and sound artist. Jeremy uses improvisation, collaboration, and noise to examine and recontextualize the alienation inherent in media influence, socially constructed reality, conspiracy, and myth. Source materials for Jeremy's performances might be anything from field recordings, guitar, synthesizers, radios, found sounds, home-made gadgets, and processed video. Since 2010, Jeremy has performed at festivals presented by the Electro-music.com community in NY, NC, NJ, and MD. After moving to Philly in 2019, Jeremy has performed at the Philadelphia Mini Maker Faire and also plays with the improv group Sonic Sandbox.4 Airports is a collaboration between guitarist Craig Chin and synthesist Nathan Yeager. Together they create improvised electronic soundscapes, exploring weird sonic terrain and deep ambient textures. Urban Shaman Attack plays American Futurism, from Wilmington Delaware. USA brings multiple genres and styles into concrescence.. moving thru phrases and themes in an effort to bring to light the obscure. We feature active tonal oscillation in a live, real time presentation. They are Rich Todd on Drums and percussion, Bob Danyo on horns and indigenous flutes, Elijah Smith on guitar, and Dwayne Todd on Synthesizer/ Chaossilator. They will feature the live video art of VJ Jim Tuite for this performance.

  • 7:00 PMThe Fables of Leonardo - Favole di Leonardo. Fairy tales, puppetry, and music in English and Italian
  • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM THE FABLES OF LEONARDO - FAVOLE DI LEONARDOExperiments, fragments and visions of the great creative genius - Sperimentazioni, frammenti e visioni del grande genio creativo!Company Aiello presents a bilingual theatrical performance in Italian and English called "Fables of Leonardo - Favole di Leonardo". Fairy tales, puppetry, and music combine to create a dynamic theatrical experience inspired by the writings and observations of the great Leonardo da Vinci. Using the anecdotes and aphorisms that Leonardo used to cheer the guests at the court of Duke Ludovico il Moro of Milan as a jumping-off point, Company Aiello has created a show that combines the company’s specialities with the time of Leonardo and the wonderful world of this witty, versatile, and tireless prankster.“As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well spent brings happy death!”This quote of Leonardo’s makes it easy to imagine a man always ready to jump into the limelight to share his ideas: his subtle observation of natural phenomena, his artistic experiences and how he linked them to thephysical universe. An innovator with insatiable curiosity who also takes relaxing seriously, showing a blend of humor and balance which brings us to our first fable, evoking the past tense: "The City of Leggerezza"The second part, or present tense, is "The Ramification of Plants/Tree and Muscles”. The use of recycled objects and contemporary/free sounds, inspired by Leonardo’s process of investigation and developing hypotheses, will explore the Anthropocene natural world we are creating. Finally in the third fable - looking to the future, as in a prophetic revelation, the Company will devise instruments and experiences from the past toward a vision of generations yet to arrive: "Of the Nature Now Cooked".This show was conceived to remember Leonardo da Vinci on the 500th anniversary of his death (1519).Text written by Angelo Aiello, Tony Fiola, & Rachel Icenogle Music by Antonello Di Matteo & Rachel IcenogleDecember 11 - 7:00pm, $10 suggested at the door.

  • 8:00 PMBowerbird presents Sarah Hennies: Contralto plus Flourish with Ashely Tini
  • 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM Bowerbird presents Sarah Hennies: Contralto plus Flourish with Ashely TiniIthaca composer and percussionist Sarah Hennies presents a cinematic version of her stunning 2017 video work Contralto, a bracing yet tender meditation on gender dysphoria viewed through the lens of transgender women finding a comfortable new speaking voice. Based on her experience in Ithaca College’s Voice and Communication Modification Program for People in the Transgender Community, the composer gathered seven diverse transgender women to perform vocal exercises designed to aid in so-called, “voice feminization.” Contralto is an intimate glimpse into the participants articulating stock phrases, singing notes, and sharing personal details to present a powerful example of the harrowing difficulties involved in the process. While the video stands on its own as an experimental documentary, it’s greatly enhanced by an inextricably woven score by Hennies that underlines the sense of futility embedded in quotidian, wok-like exercises practiced by the video subjects, which by default become symbolic acts of resistance in the transgender community. To open the evening Hennies and Philadelphia percussionist Ashley Tini—who is among the musicians on the cinematic version of Contralto—will perform the composer’s Flourish (2013), for two vibraphonists positioned on opposite sides of the same instrument. The work presents different modes of stasis, from relentlessly pulsing mallet strikes to billowing clouds of overtones and spooky interference patterns.Admission is FREE
