  • 6:00 PM In Person! Midnight Radio: A Tender-Hearted Experimental Punk Song Writing Workshop Series, for people of all marginalized genders
  • 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM Midnight Radio: A Tender-Hearted Experimental Punk Song Writing Workshop Series, for people of all marginalized gendersMonday nights from August 11th through September 15th, 6:00-8:30pm

WHAT: A queer, feminist, experimental + therapeutic take on punk song writing, interlaced with anti-Zionist Jewish ritual and mysticism. Sessions include a combo of checking in + getting to know each other; framing / inspiration / prompts; structured parallel play; and time for processing + optional sharing. Facilitator will schedule 1:1 calls with each participant before the series begins to connect about access needs, relationship to the voice, and our Informed Consent Doc. This project honors the POC invention of punk, and a portion of proceeds will go to co-founders of the band Fuck U Pay Us via The Uhuru Dream House and a celebration fund for Jasmine Nyende. A portion of proceeds will also go to Rawa — a Palestinian initiative supporting emancipatory grassroots organizing throughout historic Palestine.

WHY: To splash around together in the creation of experimental punk music — to feel our aliveness + courage on a cellular level; to give less f’s about what doesn’t matter and root more wholly + wildly into what does; to deepen our capacity to fight for / build a liberated future for all bodies. The goal is not to leave with a ‘complete song(s)’ although that might happen!

WHERE: The Rotunda, 4014 Walnut St, Philly PA ~ huge gratitude for their support of this project!

WHEN: 6 sessions, Monday nights —>

    August 11, 6-830pm -- THE MUNDANE

    August 25, 6-830pm -- THE SOUR

    September 8, 6-830pm -- BAND PRACTICE

    September 15, 6-830pm -- SHOWCASE / CLOSING RITUAL

  • 7:00 PMIn-person! Klorkhana: The Tyrant - World Premiere of a Science Fiction Opera about a Tyrant who takes over a planet
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

A WORLD PREMIERE OPERA ABOUT THE BATTLE OF BATTLES!

Philadelphia, PA--- “Klorkhana: The Tyrant,” will be presented in full in a concert setting.  Both book and music were written by Kate Quinn.

Klorkhana is the official Mind Healer of the planet of Sephro but instead of healing minds, he corrupts them.  He projects false love into people in exchange for stealing their energies for his own use.  His favorite thing to do is rob women of their special spiritual essences that help heal minds and bodies in ways men can’t duplicate.  Klorkhana and many men of Sephro are envious of women for having certain gifts men don’t possess.  Instead of appreciating what they have, they want what they don’t have, at any cost.  Klorkhana soon has almost every man on planet Sephro following him, particularly one susceptable young man named Aulio.  Together, he and Klorkhana are determined to steal what women have, and use it for themselves.

Only Coran, Warrior Overseer and Security Chief of the entire planet, her mate Tanna and Klorkhana’s former mate Destylla are able to form an army to stop this tyrant.  No matter what the outcome, these rebels are determined to bring Planet Sephro back to its former glory.

The opera concert will take place with the Philly Fringe on Thursday, September 18th at 7pm, and Friday, September 19th at 7pm.  Admission is Pay What You Can!
