Double Mayhem II is a dance event that provides the viewers with entertainment thru dance battles. It consists of dancers partnering up in pairs and competing to win the grand prize of $400. Double mayhem II also allows for dancers and non dancers to enjoy a variety of different music throughout the night. The event takes place from 7pm to 11pm and allows for everyone to get down and have a good time. Admission is $10 to enter. $15 to battle.

Event Horizon presents Bent Noise, Dan Malloy, and StaerBent Noise (AKA Scott Armstrong), emanating from the Philadelphia region, creates glitchy circuit bent soundscapes with an Electronic Wind Instrument (EWI) and a saxophone case filled with Eurorack Synthesizer modules plus supporting electronic gadgets. Bent Noise first performed live at NEEMFest 2019 in Homer, NY. Since then he has performed at synth meetups in Philadelphia and at Smithville Synth Night (Smithville, NJ). He has also live streamed on Electrozone (Ithaca, NY), Nick’s Virtual Garage (NJ), Algorave and Bent // Broken Circuit Bent festival streams since 2022. He also pops up at Modular on the Spot (MOTS) Philly and open mic venues. His obsession is experimenting in circuit design and circuit bending to generate interesting sounds. The Noisy Alien Communicator (NAC) circuit he has used in past performances is documented and illustrated in a science fiction short story collection entitled The Noisy Alien Communicator: and The Visible Spectrum. Past performances are available at here. Dan Malloy loves music….sometimes too much. Having been a Philadelphia based guitarist for 30 years, he waited 10 years before ever performing out live for he wanted it to be just right. He also feared he would embarrass himself for not being able to tune by ear. Ironically enough dan still can’t tune by ear nor does he wish to play like how others play. Always on a quest for new sound, dan has never taken the easy route. Instead of learning guitar proper through schooling dan went to over 2900 shows in 30 years and watched, studied, chatted and learned from his heroes. In that time he picked up the pieces he needed to teach himself the craft he so desperately wanted to learn. What will tonight’s show sound like we won’t know til dan takes the stage. Cause for over the last year plus dan no longer plays with an agenda but with his heart.Will it be acoustic? Will it be electric? What tunings will be incorporated? All to be decided that night. With swirling masinko (one-stringed fiddle), wah-wah violin, bass krar grooves, the heavy riffs of goat skin kebero beats, and powerful mellismatic lead African diva vocals, QWANQWA keeps the people rapt in celebratory attention. QWANQWA's debut US tour of 54 concerts in Fall 2022 brought the poignant euphoric experience to storied jazz clubs, sticker slapped rock clubs, folk festivals, prestigious music institutions, street festivals, universities, and country opera houses, all the while unifying these audiences as they clap along "Music is Universal Language"QWANQWA uncovers lesser known traditional sounds from East Africa regions of Ethiopia and beyond—a trance-like chant of the Eritrean tribe of Blen, a psychedelic Somalian cover, an extended Amhara wedding medley, a Mahmoud Ahmed sing-a-long. With Selamnesh Zemene, the Azmari diva powerhouse, at the helm, QWANQWA is a conversation of virtuosos through tight arrangements and extended experimental moments. The live show ranges from intimate to wild, from whispery conversations to full blown rock show, and it is hard to believe these psychedelic sounds are coming from traditional harps, one string fiddle, and violin. Driving, powerful, QWANQWA proves we are living during another Golden Age of Ethiopian music.The ensemble was established in Addis Ababa in 2012 by American violinist Kaethe Hostetter, who first worked in Ethiopian music as a founding member of critically acclaimed Debo Band. Relocating to Addis in 2009, she participated in numerous exploratory and professional projects, immersing further into the culture of her surroundings. In this sense, QWANQWA, the Amharic word for “language,” is a project creating dialogues between cultures. Members of QWANQWA are Endris Hassen (masinko), Kaethe Hostetter (violin), Bubu Teklemariam (bass krar), Selamnesh Zemene (vocalist), and Misale Legesse (kebero). They have appeared internationally with Getachew Mekuria, The EX, Thurston Moore, Fred Frith, Butch Morris, Debo Band, Badume’s Band, Nile Project, Fendika, Mahmoud Ahmed, Mulatu Astatke, Addis Acoustic, Ethiocolor, Atse Teodros, Mohammed “Jimmy” Mohammed, from Lincoln Center to Bonnaroo, Jazzfest (New Orleans), Moers Festival, Roskilde, WOMEX, WOMAD and more. Event Horizon presents TR7 aka Taji Ra’oof Nahl, Huron, and Neil Cippon
TR7 (aka Taji Ra’oof Nahl) – TR7’s Sonic Celestial Terrain is an electronic experimental music project that morphs cinematic jazz, ambient, & experimental hiphop abstract dynamics. His The Other Sounds of Philadelphia project has shared projects, stages & collaborated with George Lewis, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Hprizm, G. Calvin Weston, Shawn Walker, Jair-Rohm Parker Wells, Nate Totusheck, Julius Masri, 52 Street Planetary Ensemble, Universal Rhythms, Totally Automatic, June Lopez, Mark Dilks, Jerry Kaba, Chaka Benson, among others. Furthermore he is a 2024 Guggenheim Fellow for his interdisciplinary art.
Huron (aka Johnny Lancia) realizes blissed-out ambient works and concerts under the name Huron. His music is filled with heady drones and intriguing rhythms that reflect the natural world – filtered through a variety of modular synthesizers, analog electronics and digital manipulation processes. Lancia’s synthesizers, a paradise of hidden synergies, conspire with the composer to realize a beautiful, untouchable sonic realm – as electrical currents spill out into the world with a charged dreamy glow.
Neil Cippon – Philadelphia based Neil Cippon is an electronic bassist, composer and multimedia artist. Inspired by blues, rock and roots music, Neil toured and recorded with No. 6 records’ King Carcass, an industrial rock band. Carcass took and refined the combined concepts of noise, rock and industrial music. Neil has since taken his music in the direction of ambient, textural, meditative soundscapes. He uses his electronic bass, a collection of pedals and sequenced synthesizers to produce layers of music that allow the listener to relax into their own journey. Admission is FREE

Itay Dayan's Klezmer Quintet plays Hoffman's FarewellIn 1927 Philadelphia, klezmer musician Joseph Hoffman put to paper a collection of klezmer music. This collection was passed down in his family from generation to generation. In 2023, almost 100 years later his great granddaughter, Susan Hoffman Watts, decided to share that collection with the world and publish it as The Hoffman Book. (available here: www.susanwattsmusic.com/performances)Itay Dayan was very excited about the release of this book, which is another great resource of klezmer music, so he decided to record this album. He chose 8 of the pieces that seemed most interesting, obscure, weird, special and arranged them in different ways- some more traditional than others. Come and hear this work live! Admission is FREE
