We welcome Aschak the Poet and the Earth Day Kids to taste the healthy foods and learn to prep veggies and drinks from Atiya Ola’s Spirit First Foods featuring local ingredients to be grown at the House of UMOJA with a family friendly Universal Greeting. We will discuss 'greening the block' and focus on water wise irrigation and the Louise West Orchard and Peace Garden this growing season.
After 8pm we get to the magic hour with Mark Campbell, a Jamaican-American singer-songwriter working on some new tunes here in West Philadelphia in the conscious vibe.
And the soundsystem ... Dubsmith WorldTronica featuring the voice of B.Davis A pioneer and engineer rooted in the Philly DUB scene, Dubsmith WorldTronica is busy producing worldwide Dub Poetry, Dancehall Singers and performing Roots-based Dub and Electronica since the 1990s. This talented producer from the U.S played actual instruments for decades with various Reggae bands. A rising star who shared the stage (and collaborated) with The Square Roots (later The Roots), Jill Scott (October Gallery’s Panoranmic Poetry), OK Player Records artists: Black Lilly, Floetry, Jazzy Fat Nastys plus Wycleff Jean, Timi Tanzania, Burning Spear, Black Uhuru, Lucky Dube, Dub Syndicate, Culture, The Wailers, Jah Works, Topaz (Dub Trio), Digital Tubbys, King Britt, Goth Trod (Japan) and Melame Gange. Last, but not least, Yasus Afari- A veteran Roots Reggae Musician and 'Edutainer'
Introducing the sweet voice of B.Davis, an up and popping Roots Reggae artist, to describe the latest session of Dubs released on Boom One Records. Marking the artists of influence like Leroi Baskette, he started experimenting in Dub in the early 1990s, dig inna crates for his first debut on an album called Dubnight Vol 1 out of Germany, EU. April 2, 2015 is a Thursday evening near the UCD/Penn Campus. Take the SEPTA 40/21/42 Buses, MFL-Blue Line or Trolleys to the Woodlands circle to get close to your destination. Bicycling is good, walking is best … breathe, the air. Protect, our water.
