A Frontline Dads Mentoring Fundraiser
On Friday, July 12, 2013 @ 7:00 pm, Frontline Dads Mentoring Program will present: “The Freedom Gathering”, a fundraiser featuring art, music, hip-hop and spoken-word poetry. The Freedom Gathering is a fundraiser that provides a positive outlet for youth to express themselves through the arts while promoting the message of peace in the community. This communal celebration of youth will inspire, uplift, inform and mobilize the public on the issue of the need for mentoring and mentors. The Freedom Gathering will also honor “Unsung Heroes” of the community for their contributions, sacrifices, inspiration and leadership. Additionally, an art display and silent auction will feature the works of local visual artists. An open mic will follow.
Frontline Dads is an independent, community based non-profit organization that mentors "at-risk" youth. All proceeds will benefit youth programming, summer activities and supplies. Frontline Dads is celebrating its 11th year as a transformative mentoring program in Philadelphia providing service to “at-risk” youth. The mission of Frontline Dads is to facilitate the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and cultural development of “at-risk” youth by providing transformative programming that will empower them to assume leadership positions in their families, and communities. Frontline Dads has been recognized for its work in youth development by the University of Pennsylvania’s African American Resource Center, the Knight Foundation, BMe (Black Male Engagement), and United Way (Philly Roots Felowship). Frontline Dads is a recipient of the Lucien Blackwell Guiding Light Award and has been named by NewsOne as a “Gamechanger” in 2013.
