November 21st: Giving Thanks & Salutations…
Bianca Boom- Those who have heard her voice say, "It is different." Always considering her strongest talent to be her voice, Bianca continued to develop a unique vocal style while gaining performance experience in the past, as a violinist and freestyle rapper. She soothes the listener with a gentle lullaby in "Do What You Gotta Do, Redid," and just as easily, delivers into a spit-fire rhythmical style towards people who do not under in, "The Sine." Demonstrating her own dynamic brand of mysticism and romance mixed with edgy poems and beats, Bianca will always give the listener something to remember her by.
the Femme-mynistiques- Trio of sis-starz merging forces w/ fresh beats, mystic vocals, rhymes & lyrical poetics devoted to the “femminine mystic”. Together these three ladies bring to the stage backgrounds in beat/music production, dance choreography, staging theater productions, hostess-ing venues, singing, rap & spoken word performances (see link above for more info)!
Kalamandir Dance Company- Kalamandir Dance Company (501c3) is a contemporary dance ensemble that uses the vocabulary of classical Indian dance to explore new spaces of artistic expression. Instead of diminishing the foundation of our classical styles, we look to investigate their communicative potential when merged with Western dance traditions. Using Odissi, Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Capoeira, Flamenco, Modern and Ballet training, our dancers collaboratively converse with movement and create dialogue with expression. We are driven by creativity, human emotions, and a desire to be released from the four walls of our daily existence. Our movement vocabulary is a collective effort that aims to create a reachable area for all people to participate and communicate. Artistic Director, Malabika Guha presents the piece “The Love That Remains”. Based on the Portuguese word “saudades,” this piece explores the fervent state of longing by channeling the painful sweetness of remembering a loved one from whom we have been separated while reveling in the joy that they may return (see link above for more info)!
