The Philadelphia Skillshare is a three-day long do-it-yourself themed event with workshops ranging from home-buying to sexual health to how to knit to knowing your rights in police interactions. We will also have bands on Friday & Saturdaynights after the workshops. There will be a small charge/donation for conference & show attendance with ALL proceeds going to local non-profits, Earth's Keepers & Decarcerate PA.
Drawing on a diverse range of speakers from across the city, the conference will provide a space in which the community can come together and learn from each other.
While these skills exist within our community, it is difficult to access them, especially for those people who have been most often failed by the education and political systems. The reason for this conference is not just to exchange and educate but also to empower. It is our aim to provide a space in which valuable and applicable skills can be shared simply and transparently.
There will be artists selling their crafts, non-profits with information tables, and a Library card sign-up. The conference is a reflection of the knowledge and power we have as a community and the want and need to share it.
