The Vegan Pledge started in the UK. Board members of Peace Advocacy Network brought the Pledge to the US and with great success. The PAN Vegan Pledge program encourages people to adopt a vegan diet for 30 days with the program’s hands-on support. This support includes five weekly meetings consisting of cooking demonstrations, speakers addressing environmental, ethical, health, and practical issues , a personal mentor (experienced vegan), optional social events for even more support, and an incredible care package to make 30 days of being vegan that much easier. Meetings are Jan 12, 19 26, Feb 2, and Feb 9, with the first three happening here at The Rotunda, 11am-2pm.
The program is FREE. However, we do require an interview for final admission to the program. Pledges are expected to come to all of the meetings. Mentors are expected to come to the first and last meetings.
Here’s what some of our pledges have said:
I am still vegan (and trying to slowly convert the rest of the family). - Kelley Romyn
I am still vegan and doing well. I think I'm hooked on vegan for life. I've been trying to get my family to eat less meat and more fruits, vegetables and legumes. I've had limited success but I'm not giving up. - Patrick Reither
I am still 100% vegan, and doing some further research so that I can transition to be raw vegan. I feel great and I love my new lifestyle. - Chrissy Dwyer
My interest in becoming vegan was to learn healthier eating habits. The education I received from the meetings and my own research about the treatment of the animals and the impact on the environment really got my attention and repulsed to me say the least. More importantly how the consumption of animals affects my health - especially dairy. My husband and I have adapted to the lifestyle and will stick with it will little efforts. - Michele
