There has been a lot of discussion and debate about the triumphs and pitfalls that concern Black Men trying to make it and survive in America. Opinions have varied from the extreme to the unbelievable. An attempt will soon be made to right the the wrongs and highlight the positive when the title of "Black Males Alive: An Evening of Excellence" is presented on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 7pm-9pm at The Rotunda.
This program will acknowledging the Ideas, Success and Promotional Conceptualizations of Products, Goods and Services developed or provided by Black Male Creators, Organizational and Business Owners. It will feature the Showing of Multi Media Pilot Projects, Oral Historical Presentations and Cultural Demonstrations by Akhenaton (Khan) Mikell of Black Men Unifying Black Men and Imani Star Development, the Creator of the Baby Mama Drama series Keith Mungin of the House of Reconciliation/Walk Down Productions, Richard Oliver, an Outstanding Media Personality on Urban and Family Violence and Founder of the Parapet Group. Dr. Neal Hall, bestselling and award winning author of "Nigger" serial, filmmaker and rapper Marlowe (Strong Armz) Crawford with special invited guests Robert and Nazir Alston of NKA Creations with bestselling author Cleous Young of the Mountain of Miracles, also including members of Men of Color at Penn and others.
A special film preview will be presented of "Gentrification" Created by Keith Mungin, featuring Robert "Hershey" Alston, Khan Mikell and Shelly "Shell" Williams, formerly the Host of the Urban Expressions TV Show. An OPEN MIC and Free flow Expressions and Performances will follow the Main Event. The public, community groups and organizations are invited to attend this engaging and interactive session for the purpose of sharing and learning about the black male experience in America as it pertains to struggle, achievement and perseverance.
A special tribute will made in honor of the recently deceased David Fattah, patriarch of the House of Umoja and local coordinator for the Million Fathers March.
