  • 8:00 PMIn-person! Cheer-Accident, King Missile (Dog Fly Religion), George Korein and the Spleen
  • 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM NOW ADDED: KING MISSILE (Dog Fly Religion)Doors 7:30, Music 8The multifarious 8-piece (!) Cheer-Accident are touring for a new album, “You Smile — The Song is Over.” They come from Chicago with a vast and unpredictable repertoire of original music — big band brutal prog, melancholic pop, audience-confoundng hijinx and more!https://cuneiformrecords.bandcamp.com/.../you-smile-the...King Missile (Dog Fly Religion) is the returned first incarnation of King Missile, known for the absurd spoken word hits "Detachable Penis" and "Jesus Was Way Cool." The astoundingly prolific vocalist/poet John S. Hall has been posting FIVE new poems every day since some point in 2020, totaling over 10,000 poems in this period, which he has anthologized in a new book every month. You can read these on his Instagram. Somehow some way, he comes up with five funny poems every day. His primary musical partner in King Missile (Dog Fly Religion) is the tuneful guitarist and sometime vocalist unforgettably known as Dogbowl. I have been a fan of all forms of King Missile since I was 15 when I first heard "Wind-up Toys" and was moved by the dirge "Happy Hour" and teen me is very happy to be sharing the stage with them!George Korein and the Spleen have a new album “Snacking on Oblivion.” He is in Philadelphia but this Spleen is in New York. Maybe that means that George Korein and the Spleen is currently effectively in New Jersey, armed with tilapia. If you want credentials, these Spleensters play in bands such as Secret Chiefs 3, Cleric and John Zorn's Simulacrum. Not 2 shabby!https://georgekorein.bandcamp.com/album/snacking-on-oblivion$10-20 donation recommended, NOTAFLOF (No one turned away for lack of funds)

  • 3:00 PMOnline! Doctor Who Saved My Life: A virtual play about the healing power of Doctor Who
  • 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM Doctor Who Saved My LifeSaturday, July 18th from 3pm to 4:30pm EDT

A virtual play about the healing power of Doctor Who.

The virtual play Doctor Who Saved My Life tells the tale of a survivor of childhood trauma who found healing, support, and strength through the program Doctor Who, the fandom, and conventions. Michael Broussard first became immersed in the adventures of The Doctor as a child in the 1970s. Seeing his hero stand up to and defeat fictional monsters on a weekly basis gave Broussard hope that the real-life monsters he himself faced could be defeated. Discovering the world of fandom and conventions helped him conquer shyness, anxiety, and agoraphobia. And today, Doctor Who continues to be an ongoing source of healing for him.

CW: This play includes references to and frank discussions of childhood sexual abuse.

Please be sure to get a ticket in order to receive the link to this virtual event. Tickets are available for a donation of $5 or more at DoctorWhoSavedMyLife.eventbrite.com.
